A workshop on Improving Environmental and Social Condition in the Savar Tannery Estate, Bangladesh was held on 6 February, 2025. Bangladesh Labour Foundation (BLF), in collaboration with ETI Bangladesh and BFLLFEA (Bangladesh Finished Leather, Leather Goods, and Footwear Exporters’ Association), organized this comprehensive workshop aimed at enhancing environmental sustainability and social compliance in the tannery sector specially focusing on Tannery Industrial Estate, Savar.
This workshop brought together senior and mid-level management from various tannery factories to discuss best practices, challenges, and actionable solutions. The workshop also discussed about the situation analysis of the factories so that each factory will have a Corrective Action Measurements to achieve compliance further increase their export to the UK, EU and USA and other countries.
A sustainable tannery sector benefits everyone – workers, businesses, and the environment! This initiative aims to build a responsible and sustainable tannery sector by ensuring safe workplaces, environmental compliance, and improved labor conditions.
