Although street vending has been seen as an option for the poor; their legal and social status and business prospects differ domestically as well as regionally. In search of a better existence, people are gathering from rural areas in the cities for lack of gainful employment coupled with poverty. But they are not in a position to get better paid, secure employment in the formal sector and they have to stay for work in the informal sector.
