Observed World Day for Decent Work- 2024

“Workers Deserve Peace and Democracy”

Quality employment is deeply connected to peace and democracy. In the absence of peace, workers face unstable and insecure conditions that are essential for their livelihoods and personal safety. Moreover, the absence of democratic practices in numerous workplaces and areas exacerbates this issue by robbing workers of their right to engage in decision-making processes that significantly impact their lives.

As the job landscape changes, there will be a growing demand for new skills. It’s essential to strengthen active labor market policies, including vocational training and lifelong learning, while also implementing gender-equitable initiatives that support work-life balance and foster a robust care economy.

While observing the world day for decent work, Bangladesh Labour Foundation (BLF) in association with Department of Inspection for the factories and establishments (DIFE), Bangladesh Tanners Association BTA, Bangladesh Finished Leather, Leather goods and Footwear Exporters’ Association BFLLFEA, Tannery Workers Union organized day long program with rally and discussion meeting at the Tannery Industrial Estate, Savar.
