Joint meeting of Ministry of Labour and Employment, BLF and TWU to ensure social compliance in the Savar Tannery Estate, Dhaka
A joint meeting has been organised by BLF with the Ministry of Labour and Employment at the secretariat on 8th September at 4 PM. Begum Monnujan Sufian, MP, Honorable State Minister
Ministry of Labour and Employment presided the meeting where Md. Ehsane Elahi, Secretary, Mole; Md. Nasir Uddin Ahmed, Inspector General (Additional Secretary), Department of Inspection for Factories and Establishments was also present in the meeting. Among other Abdus Salam Khan, Chairman, BLF; Z M Kamrul Anam, Secretary General, BLF; Shahiduallah Chowdhury, Dr. Wazedul Islam Khan, Abul Kalam Azad, President, Tannery Workers Union, Abdul Malek, Secretary, Tannery Workers Union was also attended in the meeting. A memorandum was handed over to the Minister by the President of Tannery Workers Union. The meeting discussed the current workers issues in the Savar Tannery Estate, Dhaka. The State Minister has given direction to her office to take up immediate action with the valid issues of the workers in the Tannery Industries. A number of action plan will be implemented over the next few months to make the Tannery Industry more compliant.
