Consultation Dialogue with Brands, Buyers, & Associations

Automation is reshaping the apparel industry in Bangladesh, boosting productivity while also presenting challenges for workers. To explore the current state of automation, its effects on workers’ lives, and the sector’s readiness to embrace change, Bangladesh Labour Foundation (BLF), in collaboration with Solidaridad and BRAC University, is conducting a comprehensive study on automation in the apparel sector of Bangladesh.

On Monday, December 9, 2024, BLF hosted a consultation dialogue titled “Transforming Textiles: The Impact of Automation in the Apparel Sector of Bangladesh” with Brands, Buyers, and Associations. During the event, we shared key findings from our study, addressing both the benefits and challenges of automation. We also offered recommendations on how stakeholders can collaborate for a Just Transition in the sector.

The attendees provided valuable insights that will be used to refine and strengthen the study, which will be part of a detailed report to be shared soon. Together, we are working towards a more sustainable, inclusive, and worker-focused apparel industry.
