International Women’s Day 2022 in LRMG | Keraniganj
Bangladesh Labour Foundation (BLF) has observed International Women’s Day-2022 on March 8 in Keraniganj, Dhaka with the theme “Gender equality today for a sustainable tomorrow”. Three trade unions of Keraniganj were also involved in this program. A human chain and a colorful rally were held at Tanaka Chattar of Agangar with the support of donor organization Mondial FNV. About 230 workers of local garment factories, including men and women, as well as leaders of the trade unions, owners of various factories, and local leaders participated in the human chain and rally. Zakir Hossain Pannu, President of Keraniganj Small Garment Workers Welfare Union, Sumon Biswas, President of Aganagar Small Garment Workers Welfare Union, women leader Sonali Akter, Factory owner Iqbal Mahmud, community leader Yusuf Liton and many workers gave their remarkable speeches on the human chain. They focused on increasing women’s participation in the tannery industry, maternity leave in accordance with labor laws, prevention of sexual harassment of women in the workplace, and the rights of women workers.
