Review Meeting on the Action Plan to Eliminate the Child Labour from Local RMG in Keraniganj
Bangladesh Labour Foundation (BLF) organized a review meeting on the Action Plan to elimination of Child Labour from local RMG in Keraniganj. The meeting was held on 6th February 2022 at the Conference Room of BLF. In the last week of December 2020, with the lead of DIFE, a 1 (One) year action plan was developed to eliminate the child labour from local RMG in Keraniganj. DIFE and BLF jointly organized some activities of the action plan. But due to COVID-19 pandemic, the action plan implementation interrupted. Based of the experience and depends on the local RMG child labour situation, The Secretary, Ministry of Labour and Employment (MoLE) advised to review the action plan increasing 2 years’ time. According to his direction, Department of Inspection for Factories and Establishment (DIFE) and BLF sat together along with the multi-stakeholders to review the action plan. A K M Salauddin, Deputy Inspector General of DIFE, S M Zisan, Assistant Inspector General of DIFE, Abdus Sattar Labour Inspector of DIFE and Md. Shahinur Rahman, Mondiaal FNV Consultant of Bangladesh participated in the meeting. Z M Kamrul Anam, Secretary General of BLF presided over the meeting. Mahmudul Hasan Khan, Deputy Director of BLF moderated the meeting. Md. Sorowar Alam, Sahaba Khatun and Khandaker Faisal from BLF participated in the meeting. It was decided that after finalized the revised action plan, A K M Salauddin, Deputy Inspector General of DIFE will submit the plan to the MoLE by 15th February 2022. By this time, the review committee will submit the final draft to the DIFE by 10th February 2022.
