
Candlelight Solidarity on World Human Rights Day
On World Human Rights Day, Gender Platform Bangladesh brought together activists, workers, and community members at Manik Mia Avenue for
Bangladesh Labour Foundation (BLF), under the SMEP Project, successfully conducted Training on newly developed DIFE Tannery Sector Inspection Checklist-Based Compliance Register/Documents Preparation & Updating at BFLLFEA on February 20, 2025. The project is jointly supported by Ethical Trading Initiative UK, Ethical Trading Initiative Bangladesh, Mondiaal FNV versterkt werknemers and funded by Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Officer.
The session was inaugurated by Mr. Md. Zainal Abedin, CEO of BFLLFEA, emphasizing the importance of compliance and workplace safety in the leather sector. The training was facilitated by Naimul Aziz, Labour Inspector (General), DIFE, newly assigned to the Tannery Estate and Mahmudul Hasan Khan, Deputy Director (Programme), BLF.
Mid-level management and supervisors from BFLLFEA members factories actively engaged in discussions, making the training a great success. Their commitment to strengthening labor rights and compliance will contribute to a more sustainable and ethical leather industry.
