BLF organized a FREE medical camp to celebrate “National Occupational Health and Safety Day 2024
The Bangladesh Labour Foundation (BLF) organized a free medical camp to celebrate “National Occupational Health and Safety Day 2024.” The camp’s theme was “Healthy workers, beautiful working environment, will build smart Bangladesh,” and it ran from 10 AM to 6:30 PM at the Tannery Industrial Area.
Around 200+ workers received medical services provided by a team of pathologists and a specialized skin and medicine doctor. These services included weight checks, blood pressure measurements, blood tests, diabetes tests, and consultations with the doctor.
The most common health problems identified were headaches, joint pain, weakness, allergies, coughs, and diabetes. Workers were also found to have a high exposure to chemicals, leading to allergies, fungal infections, and coughing. Furthermore, due to low living standards and an inability to afford sufficient meals, many workers suffered from physical weakness. The camp also revealed a high prevalence of diabetes among the workers.
