In a powerful display of unity and advocacy, various organizations and stakeholders across Bangladesh came together to commemorate International Women’s Day 2024, shining a spotlight on the importance of gender equality and women’s empowerment.
Tannery Industrial Estate, Savar: The Department of Inspection for the Factories and Establishment (DIFE), in collaboration with Bangladesh Tanners Association (BTA), Bangladesh Finished Leather, Leather Goods, Footwear Exporters Association (BFLLFEA), Tannery Workers Union, Solidaridar Network Asia, Bangladesh Labour Foundation (BLF), Tannery Workers, Mid-Level Management, and Tannery Factory Owners, celebrated International Women’s Day 2024 at the Tannery Industrial Estate in Savar. The event commenced with a colorful procession, followed by a dynamic discussion meeting at the estate.
Keraniganj Local Apparel Cluster: Trade Unions and Workers of Keraniganj Local Apparel Cluster marked IWD2024 with spirited processions, human chains, and insightful discussion meetings in Keraniganj. Their efforts underscored the collective commitment to gender equality and safe working environments.
Gender Platform Bangladesh: In the capital city, Gender Platform Bangladesh took center stage, advocating for the implementation of laws to combat gender-based violence in the workplace. During the event, discussions emphasized the significance of ratifying ILO Convention 190, highlighting the urgent need for comprehensive measures to ensure the safety and dignity of all workers.
