12 June World Day against Child Labour 2023

June 12th, World Day against Child Labour 2023 has been observed globally with the slogan “๐‰๐ฎ๐ฌ๐ญ๐ข๐œ๐ž ๐Ÿ๐จ๐ซ ๐€๐ฅ๐ฅ, ๐„๐ง๐ ๐‚๐ก๐ข๐ฅ๐ ๐‹๐š๐›๐จ๐ฎ๐ซ!”

On the occasion of World Day against Child Labour, Bangladesh Labour Foundation – BLF launched 12 days campaign which was started on 1st June 2023. An inclusive awareness campaign took place with all stakeholders for an effective and timely implementation of National Plan of Action to Eliminate Child Labour from Keraniganj Informal RMG Factories.

Today the 12th of June was the last day of the campaign where there were different events organized such as Discussion Meeting, Rally, Miking, Factory base Campaign, Flyers distributions etc in Aganagar and Shubhadda Union of Keraniganj Upazila where these informal factories are established. Different stakeholders including Upazila Administration, Union Parishad, Employers Association, Trade Union, Local Community, Workers and other civil society organizations joined in the event and shows their commitment to eliminate Child Labour from Keraniganj. The participants also urge the Government to take immediate action to rehabilitate these child workers while they withdraw from the workplace.

In this World Day Against Child Labour, June 12, 2023, ILO is calling for
– Reinvigorated international action to achieve social justice, particularly under the envisaged Global Coalition for Social Justice, with child labour elimination as one of its important elements;
ย 
– Universal ratification of ILO Convention No. 138 on Minimum Age, which, together with the universal ratification of ILO Convention No. 182 on Worst Forms of Child Labour achieved in 2020, would provide all children with legal protection against all forms of child labour; and the – Effective implementation of the Durban Call to Action.
