Factory Inspection Checklist for the Tannery Industry in Bangladesh

Bangladesh Labour Foundation – BLF in association with Department of Inspection for the Factories and Establishments (DIFE), GIZ and MondiaalFNV organized the consultation tripartite workshop with the stakeholders of Tannery Sector to get the feedback on the prepared checklist.

 

Mr. Md. Mahbub Hossain, Secretary, Ministry of Labour and Employment, GoB graced the workshop as the Chief Guest. Mr. Abdur Rahim Khan, Inspector General, Department of Inspection for the Factories and Establishments (DIFE) presided over the workshop. Representatives from Bangladesh Tanners Association (BTA), Bangladesh Finished Leather, Leather Goods and Footwear Exporters Association (BFLLFEA), Jatiyo Sramik League, MondiaalFNV, GIZ was attended as guest of honour.

 

Among others International Labour Organization, Leather Development Forum members, Civil Society Organizations, Development Partners were also participated in the event and made their feedback on the checklist.

The speakers emphasised on the proper implementation of checklist in the factories by building capacity of the inspectors and factory management. It was also mentioned that by complying the checklist, the factories will move to the next level to achieve LWG certification.
