Study Circle Leadership Training for home based RMG workers

A Study Circle Leadership Training for home based RMG workers was conducted by Bangladesh Labour Foundation (BLF) with the support from the EU and Oxfam GB on October 27-28, 2024, at Ashulia, Savar, Dhaka.

This initiative aimed to empower these vital contributors to the RMG supply chain, who often work under informal arrangements that leave them unrecognized under labor laws and vulnerable to economic instability. Despite their significant role in the economy, these workers remain largely invisible, facing challenges such as low piece rates and a lack of social protection.

The training focused on developing leadership skills among participants, equipping them to raise awareness and foster organization within their communities. By building leadership capacity, the program seeks to enable home-based workers to advocate for their rights, improve their working conditions, and achieve social justice. This effort highlights the importance of recognizing and supporting the essential contributions of home-based RMG workers in Bangladesh.
