We observed International Women’s day on 8^th March, 2021 at Hemayetpur Tannery Estate jointly with Tannery Workers Union (TWU) and Bangladesh Tanners Association. A colorful Rally and Discussion meeting were organized as the key activities of day observation. Project Director of Tannery Industrial Estate from BSCIC, DIFE, The Asia Foundation, Bangladesh Tanners Association (BTA) were present in the event.

A Discussion Meeting was held at conference room of Tannery Workers Union (TWU) office. Abul Kalam Azad, President of TWU presided over the meeting. More than 250 workers were participated in the meeting. Present situation of women workers was discussed in the meeting.

Engineer Jetendra Nath Paul, PD, TIED-BSCIC; Rehana Aker Ruma, Additional Secretary of BTA; Abdul Maleque, General Secretary of TWU; Md. A M Sajjad Khan, Program Officer of TAF; Mahmudul Hasan Khan, Project Coordinator of BLF gave their speech about the importance of International Women’s day and women empowerment of tannery industry.
