Discussion meeting on the role of journalists in implementing the action plan approved by the government

Discussion meeting on the role of journalists in implementing the action plan approved by the government “To ensure social compliance in the Tannery industry” took place at Bangladesh Labour Foundation (BLF) conference hall today (04.03.2023), organized by BLF.
 
The meeting was presided By Abdus Salam Khan Chairman of BLF. Secretary General of BLF Z M Kamrul Anam, Journalist from several reputed newspapers was present at the meeting. Ruhul Ghani Jyoti, Chief News editor (Bangla), Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS) and Quazi Abdul Hannan, President, Bangladesh Labor Rights Journalist Forum were present as Special Guest in the meeting.
 
At the beginning of the Meeting the real scenario of Tannery Industries and Action Plan which is approved by the Ministry of Labour and Employment was presented by Mahmudul Hasan Khan, Deputy director (Program) of BLF and Member secretary of the Action plan implementation working group.
Later on, Z M Kamrul Anam requested the journalists to Visit the Tannery area and press coverage of significant changes of Tannery Industrial Estate and Action Plan issues in the open discussion part. Journalists suggested that the national budget include funding for this action plan’s initiatives.
At the end the closing speech was delivered by Abdus Salam Khan, Chairman, BLF as chairperson. He expressed hope that journalists will play an important role in ensuring the social compliance of the tannery industry.
