Bangladesh Labour Foundation (BLF) started the campaign towards 16 Days of Activism Against Gender Based Violence With the candle-light ceremony, with the Local garment workers of Keraniganj, and the home based RMG workers of Ashulia on 24 November, 2024.
Women workers in Keraniganj often face gender-based violence in various forms and length. with the continuous and persistent efforts of BLF; these women are standing up against such injustices and for their rights. Many initiatives have been started to implement, like forming tower-based anti-harassment committees, filing complaints, and ensuring resolution have significantly reduced incidents of violence in Keraniganj Local RMG.
Similarly, Home-based RMG workers in Bangladesh are making significant contributions to our economy while managing household responsibilities. Despite their dedication, they face numerous challenges due to a lack of legal recognition. Furthermore, many of them endure gender-based violence within their homes and communities, which directly impacts their productivity.
To address these issues, BLF is actively working to empower home-based RMG workers by conducting workshops and enhancing their capacity to combat gender-based violence. Together, let’s strive for a safer and more equitable world for all.
