Advancing a Child Labour-Free Future Through Collective Commitment
‘World Day Against Child Labour 2026’ was successfully observed at the Krishibid Institution Bangladesh (KIB). This event was jointly organized by the Ministry of Labour and Employment and the Child Labour Elimination Platform (CLEP). As an active member organization of CLEP, the Bangladesh Labour Foundation (BLF) proudly played a co-organizing role in this significant event.
The event brought together representatives from government institutions, national and international organizations, civil society, and development partners to discuss ongoing efforts, challenges, and future actions toward eliminating child labour and ensuring a decent work environment for all.
The programme was attended by Mr. Ariful Haque Choudhury, MP, Honorable Minister of the Ministry of Labour and Employment, as the Chief Guest. Mr. Md. Abdur Rahman Tarafder, Secretary of the Ministry of Labour and Employment, and Mr. Max Tunon, Country Director of ILO Bangladesh, joined the event as Special Guests, along with representatives from ILO and the European Union.
Key Discussions
The event featured expert discussions, presentations on progress and challenges in child labour elimination, and opportunities for working children to share their experiences, rights, and expectations. Awareness-focused cultural performances by child artists also highlighted the importance of protecting children’s futures.
