May Day 2026 with Informal RMG Workers

A solidarity program with informal RMG workers in Keraniganj, one of the most important but sometimes disregarded hubs of Bangladesh’s garment supply chain, was held on May Day 2026 by the Bangladesh Labour Foundation (BLF) with assistance from Mondiaal FNV. Workers from home-based units, tiny workplaces, and subcontracting tiers came together to celebrate the day and voice their opinions.

Identifying Supply Chain Invisible Workers

The program emphasized the need for fair pay, safe working conditions, and official recognition of their rights within the larger supply chain while highlighting the contributions and difficulties faced by informal RMG workers. It also brought attention to the persistent problem of child labor, which endures in obscure sectors of the industry because of poverty, lax regulations, and limited educational opportunities.

Key Messages
  • Ensuring fair wages, safe workplaces, and recognition for informal RMG workers.
  • Addressing child labour through stronger regulation and access to education.
  • Promoting inclusive and worker-centred supply chains.
  • Upholding dignity, protection, and equal opportunities for all workers.
