Rewarding Child Labour Free Tower & Stakeholder Meeting
Bangladesh Labour Foundation (BLF) organized a stakeholder meeting at Keraniganj Upazila to discuss the implementation of the National Plan of Action (NPA) for eliminating child labour in the local Ready-Made Garments (RMG) sector.
The event, held on 24 December 2024 with the support of Mondiaal FNV and in collaboration with the Department of Labour (DoL) and the Department of Inspection for Factories and Establishments (DIFE) , brought together key stakeholders to address this crucial issue.
The Joint Secretary of the Department of Labour visited local RMG facilities to assess the current situation regarding child labour. During the meeting, stakeholders, including factory owners, trade union representatives, and government officials, actively shared their views and recommendations.
In recognition of efforts to eradicate child labour, several Towers were honored with awards. The chief guest highlighted the importance of collective action and provided strategic guidelines to achieve the goal of eliminating child labour by 2025 through the effective implementation of the NPA.
