Directorate of Women Affairs & BLF effort against GBV

On December 9th, 2024, a rally and meeting were held as an integral part of the global 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence campaign, organized by Bangladesh Labour Foundation (BLF) with collaboration with the Keraniganj Directorate of Upazila Women’s Affairs and with the support from Mondiaal FNV.
 
The rally, which took place in Keraniganj, gathered a wide range of participants from diverse sectors. The Assistant Commissioner (Lands) of Keraniganj Model Thana, Women Affairs Officer of Keraniganj Upazila, Representatives of BLF, Local Union Leaders and Workers were spontaneously participated in this event.
 
Representatives from BLF were shared insights on the challenges faced by women workers and the need for systemic change in labor policies to ensure gender equality. The presence of local union leaders and workers further highlighted the deep-rooted solidarity within the community.
 
This event is part of a larger, ongoing global movement, and the involvement of local government, civil society organizations, and community members underscores the importance of community-driven solutions to tackling gender-based violence and building a more equitable society for all.
