Training on “Tannery Inspection Checklist and Guideline”

A three day long workshop has been organised on “Tannery Inspection Checklist and Guideline,” organized by the Department of Inspection for Factories and Establishments (DIFE) at National Occupational Safety and Health Training and Research Institute (NOSHTRI) on 17th-19th September.
Bangladesh Labour Foundation (BLF) has been privileged to support DIFE and MoLE to develop the independant checklist for the Tannery Sector in Bangladesh under the “National Plan of Action to ensure Social Compliance in the Savar Tannery Estate. The checklist has recently approved by the Ministry of Labour and Employment (MoLE).
 
The workshop was launched by the Honorable Advisor of MoLE Mr. Asif Mahmud Shojib Bhuyain. The honorable Secretary of Mole Mr. A.H.M Shafiquzzaman attended the program as special guest.
BLF has also taken a joint initiative with GIZ Bangladesh to develop the guideline for the labour inspectors of DIFE how they will conduct the checklist in the factories. The labour inspectors of DIFE has endorse and update the guideline and finalised it for their own use in the factory inspection with this workshop. We believe with the checklist and guideline and its proper implementation brings the tannery sector towards to ensure decent work in the workplace.
Together we will make the positive change and contribute to achieve Sustainable Development Goals.
