Z M Kamrul Anam

Z M Kamrul Anam is a leading voice both in policy and field level for ensuring the rights of the workers globally. He is a trade union activist over the last 40 years, working for establishing the right of the workers as well as to ensure a decent working environment, welfare of the workers in the sector of industries in Bangladesh. He started his trade union career from a basic trade union and afterwards became the basic union leader.

He has completed MBA & LLB. Beside this Diploma course on Social Safety Net; Occupational Health and Safety; Trade Union Philosophy and Social Justice; Study Circle Method of Education, Elimination of Child Labour and Social Protection; International Trade and Employment.

He authored and edited many training module on Trade Unionism for Trade Union Leaders, Trade Union Leadership, Organization and Financial Management of Trade Union Organization, Negotiation and Collective Bargaining for Leadership, Occupational Health and Safety & Fire Safety Management, Elimination of Child Labour and Trade Unions Role etc.

Mr. Anam is also a renowned poet and publish 10 poem books in Bangla. He is the  Editor of Shromiker Dak and Sonagazi Porikroma. He got various national and international awards such as Gold medal from City Somaj Kallyan Songstha, Kazi Nazrul Islam award and Ekushey Honorary award by Shadhinota Songshod, IAIABC award from USA, Jenson Award from Japan, Dr. Muhammad Shahidullah Honorary award-2009, Golden Book award from Sound Bangla on social service, Shopnolok Shorno Kolom (Golden pen) award, Human Right society Award-2009, Mawlana Vasani Gold medal-2012, National 4 Leaders memorial award-2012.

He played important role being enlisted in different committee of Government and ILO. He was the member of the committee to prepare recommendation on “Problem analysis of the Jute and Textile mills and way to overcome led by the Finance Minister. Was a member of “Handover policy development committee” to handover 9 Textile mills to the Labours and played an important role on handover and takeover Textile mills. Plays an active role as member of the “Mannan commission” led by the Labour Minister to give financial benefit (Golden Handshake) to the self-retired Workers. Took part in the sub-committee of parliamentary committee on amendment of law on Garments sector and plays active role there. Played role in ILO Project Advisory Committee and ADB ILO-RETA Project. He took tremendous responsibilities to offer compensation to the deceased family of dead workers, injured workers of Spectrum Garments, Smart Fashion, Tajrin Fashion, Garib & Garib & finally for Rana Plaza by lobbying with Buyers, Brands, Employers, ILO, ITGWLF, IndustiALL and other international organization. He was the EC member of the ITGLWF for twenty years.

He visited many countries to represent Bangladesh in many International Events in the USA, Canada, United Kingdom, Australia, Japan, New Zealand , Germany, Denmark, Sweden, Switzerland, Italy, France, Belgium, Netherlands, Portugal, Taiwan, Argentina, Turkey, Indonesia, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Thailand, Singapore, Philippines, India, Pakistan, Srilanka, Nepal, Saudi Arabia and took part in the meeting seminar, education training like Trade and investment Cooperation Framework Agreement (TICFA) , Organisation of for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), International Labour Conference (ILC) etc.

Mr. Z M Kamrul Anam  was the elected Chairman of Sonagazi Upazila Parishad of Feni district for two times. He is a member of the Task-force on expansion and liberalization in RMG sector, Commerce Mininstry, GOB and also National Child Labour Welfare Committee. He is serving as the President of Bangladesh Textile and Garment Workers League (BTGWL) and also  member of IndustriALL Bangladesh Council. Mr. Anam is also Trustee Board Member of RMG Sustainability Council (RSC) which has been taken the responsibilities from Accord & Alliance and Workers Resource Centre an subsidies organization of ILO.
